I come to Tucson about once every month. The sunrise cafe is my go to place. They have been slowly introducing more authentic middle eastern recipes to their already brilliant menu. It is absolutely delicious. I crave the billy llama and always make sure to take a plate back home. This is the real deal!! Make sure to eat here and try all of the fantastic food.

I have been sampling falafel around town recently and, while it's early in my research, Sunrise Cafe has my favorite falafel and hummus so far. Zayna and Babylon are my next favorites in that order. Sunrise Cafe's falafel is richly and subtlely spiced with a hint of cinnamon and other fresh spices. It is deep fried to a crisp in fresh oil that adds to the flavor. There was one small piece of identifiable garbanzo bean in all of the falafel patties that wasn't blended in, so these patties were made from whole ingredients. The hummus was delicious and not too heavy on the tahini oil. A cabdriver told me a couple of years ago that Sunrise has the best falafel in town and I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. I wish I had gotten here sooner. I'm looking forward to trying more on the menu. It's a very affordable, no frills place, and I've only ordered to go here. It closes at 3 pm.

    Edit: 7-5-18
I was negligent in mentioning something in original review below: The food here is great!  Wonderful atmosphere, fair pricing, WiFi...

Original review: Owner tends to let the place get pretty warm inside before closing the front door and turning on the AC. I can't imagine how the folks working there must feel...  If ya pull up on a warm day and see the front door open, well, you know what to expect.

Nothing to complain about here. We only got the pancakes and a veg omelette. Everything was tasty and prompt. There was only one other couple in there. The chef brought our food out with a smile and we enjoyed the unique decor.

Absolutely rude unprofessional management and owners I was trying to order food and there was A2 year old little kid behind the counter running around and the owner was yelling at her instead of paying attention to the customers I had terrible service along with old crunchy rice and mediocre food not to mention very unfriendly and just all-around I will never ever recommend or eat here again and it's right next to my house

I tried to order a gyro platter with a salad instead of fries and the owner refused to make me the combo without Fry's stating that that was the combo and it could not be changed but I was just asking for a salad instead and I didn't care if it was extra money but he just refused to make it
